My photography journey: from childhood passion to fine art prints
My love for photography began in childhood, often spent capturing the intricate beauty of my mother's flowers. This early fascination with making pictures blossomed into a career as a professional wedding and portrait photographer. While I enjoyed documenting special moments for others, my spare time was always dedicated to exploring and photographing Australia's stunning natural landscapes.
I've since retired from photographing people, but my camera remains a regular companion. Whenever I need to recharge, I embark on a photography trip, seeking out and capturing the beauty of the world around me.
Artistry in every print: capturing Canberra and NSW South Coast's hidden gems
What makes my fine art prints stand apart? Since moving to Canberra 25 years ago, most of my photographs have been taken in locations around Canberra and the NSW South Coast. These are places that many local residents might recognise, yet I strive to present them from a unique perspective, revealing hidden gems that are easily overlooked.
Unlike many other photographers, my photographs are printed using pigment inks instead of chemical dyes, and they're printed on 100% cotton "rag" paper. This meticulous process ensures archival quality, meaning that when framed correctly, your print will last for 100 years or more, becoming a cherished heirloom.
Beyond the lens: my passion for creating with wood
When I'm not behind the camera, my hands are often busy in my workshop. I find immense joy and fulfillment in woodworking and woodturning. There's something incredibly rewarding about transforming a simple piece of wood into a beautiful, functional object. This passion for creation, whether through photography or carpentry, stems from the same desire to bring beauty into the world.
